Does Size Matter?

 Does Size Matter?

Well frankly yes it does.

Over the last few weeks I have been trying various  Second Life  Browsers and on many  occasions I have noticed that avatar scaling seems to be very different.

We all know that we can make our avatars  as tall as possible or as short as possible and my own avatar has pretty much remained at around  SL 6 foot 4  which of course in RL terms would make me very tall indeed.
Now on scaling alongside other avatars that used to be pretty much an ok size in comparison to many other (human) avs.

What I have noticed recently is that  some of the newer avatars appear to be around 9 feet tall ie  HUGE compared to me. Is this a browser thing or  somehow has  the scaling that keep  most things in proportion disappeared?

I dragged a friend of mine  for the pic above to try and show the difference. At that time I was using the Phoenix Viewer and  he was on Viewer 2.  We tried to line them up  equally and there is a distinct difference and no  not just because he has a male avatar!

I had the same  using Imprudence Viewer and also on Viewer 2.

Visiting a few shows it has been  rather odd to  see what I see as normal size avatars (scaling comparison)  and then a range of really oversized avs on my screen.

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing this too?

At the very last minute!

At the very last minute that I have free  before scooting of to the Vodka and Cake party I shall be attending for New Years Eve tonight, I thought I'd come back to my blog  just before the New Year  kicks in.

What a year it has been!

In between between dashing off to Dublin for Metameets earlier this  year,  packing a huge house up and kids,  settling into a new country,  trying to finish my next album 'Groove Passion'  (hopefully out early next year) and  starting a new and very exciting  project for Music in Virtual Worlds  I have had  my spirits kept up ( not the alcoholic type btw) by a plethora of wonderful people online.

5 months ago I moved to Denmark and am now the proud owner of a very run down but beautiful  farmhouse which is in desperate need of love and attention and  an awful lot of  filler and  paintwork.

It is not  so easy to live in  another country and I try to keep up a bit, so each day  I read the Jyllands Post Thoughtfully but not always accurately translated by Google.
Biggest laugh so far has been this wonderful translation about  the recent eclipse that had me in stitches for days.

'Today's lunar eclipse began at .6.29. The end is the total.
Clock 8.40 will moon be gone, but when you must hurry to look up, while the Moon is about to crash'

My last blog for this year goes out  in thanks to the following people, who have at some point  have inspired me, made me laugh  and made a difference to my life  during the last year. It is by no means a comprehensive list and forgive me if I forget someone.

This is for You.

There have been Way too many times this year that death has stepped in through the door of our lives.

I am so saddened to hear the loss of another exceptionally wonderful person, Delinda Dryssen
(Denise Williams) who passed away only yesterday.

Todays  post from me is  short simply  because
being able to say something very eloquent and express my thoughts in a meaningful way in type isn't going the way I want it to

some days it's just too damn hard.

But for those of you who are my dearest friends who I know this year between you all
 have lost
a Mother, a Child, a Wife, a Husband, a Grandfather, an Aunt and a Best Friend.

and to those others who really DID make  a difference in their lives even at the very end

 This one is for you.
